After leaving Flat-Time house…Reflections on cleansing

Posted on by Angela Hodgson-Teall

Lygia Clark commented:

‘We arrived at what I call a ‘‘collective body’’ an exchange between people of their intimate psychology.  The exchange is not a pleasant thing…and the word communication is too weak to express what happened in the group’.

The video shows me responding to the situation of Flat-Time house, returning to an old piece of work in another location and examining how Lygia Clark’s works have enriched my understanding of it.  Reviewing it now, having completed the residency, it feels like a prophetic document, a relic that has significance, not only looking backwards, but also looking forwards to what might happen in the house where PhD and MA students from Wimbledon, Camberwell, Chelsea and London mingled in this risky collaboration of egos, with all its pitfalls and jubilation, culminating in the seminar which will occur in one days’ time.

(Cross reference….. eating, dancing and cleansing          days 3-5 in the house)
